St. John's and Nike : The Collaboration of the year
Today August 1, St. John’s University celebrated Nike Fan Day as they dropped their first merchandise from the new Nike and St. John’s partnership.
The St. John’s partnership with Nike was announced on July 1st in an official statement from St. John’s University Athletic Department. The news came after much speculation over who would replace Under Armor after their six year contract came to a close.
The Athletics Department stated in their announcement that they were “excited to realign St. John’s Athletics with an iconic brand and pioneer in sports performance.” University Director of Athletics, Mike Cragg stated that “ fostering this partnership with Nike demonstrates our commitment to competing at the highest level for our respective sports.” The department hopes that realigning with Nike, will give a significant boost to the athletic programs with Nike being the top player in the sporting world and affiliated with some of the most successful college and national sporting persons and teams.
In an interview with the New York Post, Mike Cragg said that Nike was a part of the “history at St. Johns. To have that partner back is very important...To be a part of that Nike family is a huge honor and we’re real excited about the partnership, and think it can take us to another level.”
The collaboration will provide the 300 student athletes of St. John’s with their footwear, apparel, equipment for training and game day uniforms, in all 17 divisions of St. John’s Athletics. Fans will also get the opportunity to enjoy the new Nike collaboration with a whole new array of St. John’s Athletic fan gear and sports wear.
So what was released on August 1?
Nike Fan day celebrated the collaboration with the release of 22 apparel items being introduced to the online St. John’s Bookstore. We have featured some of new items below.
